Sewing Mania

There is a lot going on currently in my sewing room.

Most of the weekend I spent time making many more potholders.  I am very blessed to say I have been wiped out of many that were in my current inventory.

The rest of this week I am working on a very special project for a charity very close to my heart.  There will not be many posts from me this week.  I have LOTS of details to work on.

Don’t forget about the potholder giveaway over at Rachel’s Cottage House, you have until the end of the week.

100 Posts…A Reflection

The number is finally here and I feel like it took forever.  This has been a very rewarding process.  In addition to writing on my blog, I have been fascinated with QuilterBlogs.com.  There is so much inspiration for creativity on there.  Thank you everyone for sharing.

Where do I go from here?

First and foremost…I am not buying any fabric during the month of September.  I have bought enough recently to start my own store.  Actually I’ve been buying up fabric to work on projects, fill my Etsy store, and have products ready for craft shows.  That’s where this blog has taken me…small business owner.

I love my hobby enough to share with the world and try to do something with it.

Recently, a couple of other bloggers have contacted me about doing a giveaway.  Great, LOVE to!!  When I’m on their site, I’ll make sure to let you know.

I still want this blog to be about the creative process, how I pick fabric, what I choose to do with it, and the final design.  It holds me accountable for getting things done.  Sharing with the world makes me very nervous, but it is rewarding.

There are things that I haven’t done, like continued with my charity quilts.  I have so many custom orders and other ideas, I will get to those in the coming months.

This blog has been and will continue to be my creative outlet.  Hopefully the next 100 posts will not take as long as the first 100.

Project Modern

Good Friday morning.  We have a winner on Chick’s new collar…Cherry Flower.  She is just so excited she’s passed out on her favorite chair right now from her elation.  Nope, she’s saving up her energy to torment us later.

I saw this announcement this morning and thought I would share.  Wonder what the challenge will be?  Like I don’t have enough on my plate already.

Do you love to create modern quilts? Do you like the challenge of coming up with your own design or unique modern spin to a traditional design?  If so, have we got an announcement for you!

The Modern Quilt Guild is thrilled to launch Project Modern, a year long series of exciting quilting challenges!  Project Modern will be made up of four challenges that will span from September 2010 to September 2011.

We have lined up a group of incredible judges who we are so pleased to have involved.  Valori Wells, Malka Dubrawsky, Pokey Bolton and Denyse Schmidt will each judge one challenge.

Our wonderful sponsors are providing us with  amazing prize packages and to top it all off just for entering the challenge, you will be entered into a drawing to win a Janome Horizon Memory Craft 7700QCP sewing machine!!

Everyone is invited to participate. It doesn’t matter if you’re a beginner or consider yourself a pro. It is about each of you challenging yourself to design and create. We welcome all members of the modern quilting community and encourage quilters to stretch out of their usual comfort zones. We anticipate that you will come up with some exciting and innovative creations.

We will be announcing the first challenge on September 1st, so keep an eye out here for the details, to see what fabulous prizes you can win and how you can take part!
