Had the opportunity to visit CityQuilter while in NYC. They had a great selection and some wonderful fabrics that I have not seen in person yet, plus you can only purchase from them. What a great way to remember a trip, with fabric. Now what should I do with them? I am open to suggestions. Note: I’m not wanting to put all of these together in one.
Michael Miller is a great fabric line with funky novelty prints and bold colors. Here are some of the fabrics that I would love to add to stash right now:
Brady Bunch
All of the fabric is named after a character on the show. Very clever. I love the retro feel, bright and updated colors. There is another great plaid in this collection. My favorite is Cindy.
The Peter stripe is also nice
Honey Bee
Great blend of orange, green, yellow and brown. Reminds me of fall without screaming seasonal. Garden Honey Meadow is my favorite.
As for the free patterns that Michael Miller is offering, I may have found a way to work through my stash. The Daisy Doodle and Modern Flora are my favorites they have available right now. Stash busting, here I come.
Brooklyn Heights is a great update on their previous collection “City Girl”. I love the big prints, great stripes and strung circles. The patterns are bold, but the muted colors are wonderful. Albee Square is a free pattern available for download. Might be a great stash buster or quick quilt to have on hand.
Chloe has swirls that need to be in my stash.
Cosmo Chic reminds me of another fabric especially this pattern below. Any suggestions? LOVE this plaid and the color palette for the entire collection.
Day Dreamer offers strong spirals, floral, and geometric prints.
Habitat offers neutrals in a muted manner. Designs include fireworks, plaid, dots, leaves, and florals.
I see a trend that I like PLAID. Fall/autumn must be on the brain.
Abbey Road also has a great stripe that could be used in a number of projects in a variety of colors.
This will be the hardest month I have ever had. I have started my fabric fast for the month of September. We are 10 days into it and the amount of sales and promotions I have seen so far is making me sad. I will stick to my guns.
See this picture of my fabric stash that is out??? Yeah, I need to get through some of that before I add anymore. Good thing I have a craft show in October to help me get energized to create more projects.
This is what I have unpacked, sorted, and have for projects.
Rules for the month of September Fast:
I can only purchase notions that I absolutely need: needles, thread, spray, etc.
No fabric can be purchased for future use.
If and only if I get into a project that requires more fabric, that is the only fabric I can purchase.
Oh man, I really hope I can hold out and make it through the entire month. Hawthorne Threads and Fat Quarter Shop are very tempting with their constant updates on Facebook.
Speaking of Facebook, I have a group on there…Quiltytherapy. Just getting it started, join me group, who knows what I might post on there.
