Sewing Mania

There is a lot going on currently in my sewing room.

Most of the weekend I spent time making many more potholders.  I am very blessed to say I have been wiped out of many that were in my current inventory.

The rest of this week I am working on a very special project for a charity very close to my heart.  There will not be many posts from me this week.  I have LOTS of details to work on.

Don’t forget about the potholder giveaway over at Rachel’s Cottage House, you have until the end of the week.

Call Me Productive

Since Wednesday I have been working to diligently get items marked off my check list.  Well readers, I was successful.

Five new sets of potholders that will be added throughout the week to Etsy.  Here is just an idea of what they look like.

Finished the Groovy Flower quilt top and got it pressed.  Found backing fabric to coordinate.

Completed the custom quilt top I have been working on as well.  Just waiting on approval in order to start quilting.

However, to quilt I need to clean out my front room.  That includes finally unpacking from vaca, sweeping, and cleaning the carpets.  I like to pin on carpet so this is a must.  I found another top that I forgetten about and the backing.  Could there be another quilt to be completed in my making???  You bet!

This week has been a complete whirlwind.  My mom underwent major surgery on Monday and it took longer than anticipated.  We received a diagnosis we didn’t want, but will get through.  After a long day and a few stiff drinks I finally passed out.  We have had nasty storms come through over the last few days.  The woke me up with a wonderful light show at 3:30 am.

Tuesday was a long day at the hospital visiting Mom all day.  Luckily I could go home and rest.  Sewing mania began after that.

Everyday this week I have woke up and started sewing.  What a wonderful feeling to be productive early in the am.  Today I even managed to get some stuff on Etsy.

Lots more to come though, big announcements possibly.  NO BABIES, just other stuff.

Things I’m working on:

  • Girly quilt as a custom order on Etsy
  • More potholders, starting my Christmas/Holiday versions soon
  • Yo-Yos for holiday gifts, these kept me sane on Monday.
  • Groovy flower quilt for Etsy.  Stash buster!!

Have a great creative week.  Check back next week for some news, hopefully!

Etsy Shop Update

This has been a great week and better things are still to come.

I delivered my special order potholders this morning.  They were super fun and cute.  Totally spaced taking a photo of them.

I finished products to put in my Etsy store and actually got them photographed and published.  I’m most proud of the Birdie baby quilt.  This is my second attempt at applique and I’m very pleased with the results.  While I was sewing I just was remember to move the fabric and take my time.  What an accomplishment.

Close up from the quilt

I’ve got more sitting next to my machine ready to go and a few cute quilt ideas as well.

The giveaway will start tomorrow.  Be sure to check back and see what it’s all about.  Have a creative Wednesday!!

May has come and gone for the most part.  We have partially recovered from moving, getting married and both starting new jobs.  Whew, that was a lot in just a few months.

Back in the real world we are adjusting to our new schedules and fitting the rest of life in.  There is biking, running, sewing, cooking, yard work, etc that all needs to be done.  Don’t forget time with our two very needy dogs.  Luckily, there isn’t much on TV that I like during the summer and I feel I can run on less sleep than normal.

While I haven’t been posting much over the last week, I have been in my room sewing quite a bit.  I even woke up early this morning.  My creative juices are flowing!

Things I’m working on:

  • Completing the Quilts for Kids kit that I received quite a while back.  I’d like to thank them for sending me a reminder email.  Kicked myself into high gear.
  • A few more items went up on Etsy this week.  I will hopefully continue to put new ones every couple of days.
  • Birdie applique top is complete.  Last night I worked on the pieced backing.  Just putting strips together randomly.  I think it will add a nice touch to the back.

On a side note, I have LOST my seam ripper.  Really, I had two of them and now I can’t find one of them.  GRRR!!!

This is one of biggest weekends for the city of Indianapolis, make sure to check out the race on Sunday.  Even if you’re not a fan, you’ve got to respect people that are willing to drive at over 200 mph for my entertainment.  Bring on the sunblock and beers.

The roar of the engines give my goosebumps every time!!!
