My Favorite Gator

One of my favorite quilts went to our good friend’s son upon his arrival into this world.  Today he is  turning 1.  Where did this year go??

When he first got the quilt.

Isn’t he just adorable all snuggled down into his swing and his new Gator’s quilt.

Apparently people would stop her and ask where she got the quilt, they do live in Gainesville.  Too bad for me that there are rules and regulations to using licensed fabric.

Here he is packing his bag for school.  He’s growing up so fast.

FOUND IT!!!

Thank you to G and the comment that was left this morning.  I have found the quilt artist I wanting to find.

Noriko Endo

Time to go through my scrap bin and start slicing to make create some wonderful confetti.

No way can I even compare to her wonderful work, but I may have to attempt a similar art quilt to really capture the wonderful fall colors.

Visit, http://park19.wakwak.com/~noriko/, to see her techniques.  Enjoy and let your imagine run wild.

BE CAREFUL Googling her name and images.  I found some naked women…scary and I was at work.  EEEKKK!!!

Looking for a Pattern

During my time in NY the fall foliage inspired me to try something different.  I remember an episode of Simply Quilts on HGTV with Alex Anderson that used small scrap pieces for applique with black netting.  Saw the episode once, recorded it, got deleted for some reason, and NOW…I CAN’T remember or find the program info.

Does anyone out there know the name of the technique?  It was an Asian lady on the show that day.  She had made very small scrap pieces and used them to create a landscape scene in “nests”.  She then covered the quilt in a black netting to machine quilt.

I really want to do this with some scraps and using one of the photos I took for inspiration.

If you remember, have an idea, have used the technique, or could offer me ANY help, please comment.

Benartex Fabrics

Benartex

Brooklyn Heights is a great update on their previous collection “City Girl”.  I love the big prints, great stripes and strung circles.  The patterns are bold, but the muted colors are wonderful.  Albee Square is a free pattern available for download.  Might be a great stash buster or quick quilt to have on hand.

String Necklace Blue

Chloe has swirls that need to be in my stash.

Cosmo Chic reminds me of another fabric especially this pattern below.  Any suggestions?  LOVE this plaid and the color palette for the entire collection.

Beaded Plaid Citrus

Day Dreamer offers strong spirals, floral, and geometric prints.

Hourglass Geo White               Hourglass Geo Blue

Habitat offers neutrals in a muted manner.  Designs include fireworks, plaid, dots, leaves, and florals.

Big Flower Aqua       Plaid Aqua/White          Dandelion Dark Khaki/Lt.Khaki

I see a trend that I like PLAID.  Fall/autumn must be on the brain.

Abbey Road also has a great stripe that could be used in a number of projects in a variety of colors.
