Digging into the STASH

If you could see my to do list you would wonder why I’m starting something random.  It felt good to just sew and create with the Cloudy Skies & Rainbows quilt.  Many bloggers have been talking about simple things to just get that creative spark going, even better using the good stuff.  See a list of them below this post.

Precuts are my thing, but you already knew that.  At a sale a couple of years ago I picked up a small bundle of Luxe in Bloom by Art Gallery Fabrics.

I wasn’t sure what to make with these fat quarters so I cut them into charms, 5 inch squares.  As I was searching for a vintage sheet over the weekend to use as a table cloth and saw these fabrics again.  I pulled them out and started pondering.  Let’s keep this simple was my first thought.

After separating the charms and sorting them into piles of each fabric, I wanted to do something other than just 5″ charms and nothing else.  I was seeing triangles, but not quite half square triangles.  I pieced the squares together randomly.  Then I took the two block strip and combined it with another two block strip to give me a four block square.

Late night sewing since I couldn’t sleep.

Now I just need to find the right solid to complete the top the way I’m envisioning.  Not quite sure what I’m going to do with this quilt, so not sure how crazy I want to get.  My goal and idea was to keep it simple.

For now they will stay like this.  I need to audition some ideas before any further cuts are made.

Posts on #usethegoodstuff.  I’m considering running a feature on quilters that are using the good stuff and not just keeping it locked away.  Would you want to participate?  If so email me at quiltytherapy @ gmail dot com.  It would be a few short questions and some photos to share with others.  Maybe you can be an inspiration.
