The 100 Day Project Wrap Up

The 100 Day project

This experiment is becoming harder to remember daily.  While the overall experience is more important to me and it’s given me a better perspective on things, life gets in the way.  Sitting down every night to write about the good in the day didn’t feel honest.  Some days were a stretch.  This is the 100 Day Project wrap up.

Since I have been looking at grace and positivity and feel like there is something missing in this.  You guys, I launched an application while the project was happening.  Things were stressful and chaotic.

This post came resonated with me earlier this week.  “You Can Do It!”  Damn right I can, so can you.  Stop now and read that post, you will thank me.  There are highs and lows that offer the opportunity for growth.  While the article focuses on small businesses, it’s important to remember your friends and support network have your back too.  This post has been weighing on my heart over the last few days.  Weighing on me in a good way and it gave me pause.

What I learned

While I continue to look for great things everyday, not everyday has great things.  Some days are a stretch for even the most optimistic person.  Shaking the pom poms daily can be tiring because the truth isn’t there.  There are lows and challenges we face each day.  Positivity helps push us forward into a better balance.  However, ignoring the lows seems fake.

Being fake is not the intention of this blog.  Sharing the truth behind projects and life is more important that some 100 day challenge.

In yoga class recently the instructor said something that just stuck with me.

Celebrating positivity is wonderful and the world needs more of it.  Without discomfort there is no growth.

  • Growth is more important.
  • Growth provides a lasting impact.
  • Growth makes the world better.

My life has seen growth and change over the last couple of months in positive ways.  I want to get back to sharing balance instead of just the great things.  Grow with me.

What have you do recently that makes you uncomfortable?  What growth do you want to see?

The 100 Day Project Days 21-25

The 100 Day project

Le’ts get mooshy for days 21-25.  Well maybe a little.

Day 21 – April 23rd, 2018

A prince was born today.  I’m not really into celebrities, but love the monarchy.  While it’s archaic, I find the system and traditions beyond interesting.

I want to applaud Kate Middleton for standing in front of the public hours after giving birth.

Day 22 – April 24th, 2018

Today is an easy one.  It’s my wedding anniversary.  We said I DO! eight years ago.  Thanks hubby for your love and support.  You make me better.

Day 23 – April 25th, 2018

I hope to have 34 years with my husband.  The love and compassion it must take to be a caregiver is astounding.

Day 24 – April 26th, 2018

Today I attended an event where Emily Ward was the Keynote Speaker.  The biggest takeaway was being your authentic self.  It’s hard to do.  Read a little about her here.

Being your authentic self is hard on social media.  You guys I’m a weirdo, I’m all over the place with my interests, but those things make me ME.  I love the things that make me, well me.

P also rode his bike to a pizza place and back.

Day 25 – April 27th, 2018

This week has been chaos with a product launch at work.  Once it’s available to everyone I will share more details.  Let’s just say it’s been a week of messy buns and coffee.

The 100 Day project

The 100 Day Project days 16-20.  With today’s post this project is 1/5 of the way done.  It’s been refreshing to look at positivity during the day.  It’s making the practice easier.

Day 16 – April 18th, 2018

Maybe you have seen this.  Maybe you have not.  I found this video awesome.  She learned a Beyonce dance in days.  That is kick ass.  I don’t know this girl, but I want to be her friend.

Day 17 – April 19th, 2018

Two of my boys enjoying a sunny afternoon.  Boss got a car ride, note the smiling face.  P is now tall enough to put his hand out the window.  He loves it.  That late afternoon sun feels so refreshing.

Day 18 – April 20th, 2018

Five miles run today.  No pain + no stopping = fastest time in a while.  Considering I have a half marathon in a couple of weeks, this is a good thing.

Day 19 – April 21st, 2018

Family time.  We played outside and worked in the yard.  It’s finally spring and that feels amazing.

Day 20 – April 22nd, 2018

SPRING!  My favorite tree is in bloom.  The magnolia tree is vibrant and every year I’m in awe of their blooms.  I ran 8.6 miles and saw a number of them along my route.

The 100 Day Project Days 11-15

The 100 Day project

Welcome back.  We have made it through the first 10 days of the 100 Day Project.  It’s been nice to comment on something positive everyday.  It’s easy to get wrapped up in negativity online.  This is a growth exercise for me.  Life, stress, and challenges still happen to me everyday.  I’m choosing to focus on positivity and grace to help make a better impact.

Day 11 – April 13th, 2018

Friday the 13th is supposed to be spooky.  Instead I took the opportunity to get outside for a bit.  The weather was still nice.  I was aiming for 5-7 miles.  My body had other thoughts and really didn’t want to cooperate.  Still being able to get out and run three miles is good.

Day 12 – April 14th, 2018

It was a done of quilting fun with members of the IMQG.  We drove over to Ohio to see a Charlie Harper quilt exhibit.  It was nice to support other quilters and their work.  River City Quilt Guild licenses Charlie Harper’s work to be able to create these wonderful quilts.

Day 13 – April 15th, 2018

Today was IMQG meeting day.  As I’ve noted before these people get me and are truly amazing.  After meetings I’m inspired to come home and create.  We had a massive scrap swap and I found a few things that came home with me.

Day 14 – April 16th, 2018

Did you watch the Boston Marathon?  I watched Des Linden take the lead and not look back.  Her determination was inspiring.  She passed others and sustained her lead with some of the worst conditions the marathon had ever seen.  Not only that, she is the first American woman in over 30 years to win.

Day 15 – April 17th, 2018

Today someone shared this video.  It reminded me of my grandma.  That may sound odd, but I will explain later.

The 100 Day Project Days 1-5

On Instagram I started noticing the #the100dayproject floating around.  It got me thinking about what I could do for 100 days straight.  I don’t need a prompt to sew or add anything else creative.

Find out more about the project here.

Rather than post 100 days on Instagram, I want to write about grace and positivity.  Over the next 100 days I’m going to keep a journal/log on my blog.  There is grace and positive actions happening everyday around us.  I want to share my experiences.

Day 1 – April 3rd, 2018

Tonight at boxing, the teacher noted I was punching hard.  Me?  Punch hard?  I’ve gained strength and technique, so yeah, my punches have gotten harder.  It felt great to hear since I love this class.  Plus, this picture is pretty amazing.  This is before class while the lights were still out and the room was empty.  The ball was just sitting there perfectly.

Day 2 – April 4th, 2018

While scrolling through Instagram today I stumbled upon this post.  My immediate reaction is we need more of this.  Cheering on my friends and those that I may not know only helps.  Being a negative Nancy and trying to tear them down does not.  So root for someone today, I will be rooting for you!

I got you!

Day 3 – April 5th, 2018

Today I started something new that I have been contemplating for some time.  I got serious about my yoga practice.  8:30 a.m. was my first class in a studio that wasn’t an event, etc.  While the class was challenging, it was refreshing too.  Trust me I fell more than I want to admit in class.  I’m challenging myself to go as much as possible.

Day 4 – April 6th, 2018

We got free tickets to opening day of the Indianapolis Indians.  Someone is a swap group I’m in posted last minute.  We had been on the fence about going because of the weather.  Free made it more enticing.  During the game it was like sitting in snowglobe.  The snow was just sprinkling around us.  It was cold and beautiful at the same time.

Also, whoever let Elsa loose in Indiana can come collect her at any time.  It’s cold and snowy here.  It should be in the 40’s-50’s with sun.  Oh Anna, please save us.

Day 5 – April 7th, 2018

Celebrating a friend’s birthday.  Dinner, laughing, and finally cake!  Well not only cake but a whole dessert spread.  You guys, that cake was amazingly rich.  However those macaroons were delish and some came home with me.

I wish we could celebrate everyday like birthdays.  Instead let’s treasure those little moments.

Stay tuned for upcoming days.  While I was going to do this in bigger chunks of days I think it’s better to share in smaller bits.  Maybe it will inspire something positive in your day.
