Blocks! Blocks! Blocks!

Many blocks have found their way into my sewing room and I’m really enjoying it.  I have forgotten how fun it can be to get back to basics and work on something small.

Indy Modern Quilt Guild has started a monthly block lotto.  Make up to three of the monthly blocks before the meeting.  One block is randomly drawn and that person wins all of the blocks for the month.  The winner can’t win another month until they bring back a finished project with the blocks.

One combination was gray, yellow and white.  I really wanted to win that month so I made two of these complicated blocks.  interlocking seasons quilt block

Of course I made one in all Lotta Jansdotter fabric.

We used this tutorial.  This was a real challenge and required having the seam ripper on hand.  I didn’t win that month but well worth the effort.  Can’t wait to see what the winner creates.

The IMQG is also wrapping up our annual charity quilt.  We had voted to make something that didn’t use pink and gray since the last two years have been those colors.  Instead we went with something that had warm and cool colors.  Kona Coal is the center of each block.  We used this tutorial.

Blocks have been a great way to use some of my growing scrap stash.  However, I’m going to need some bigger projects to get this scrap stash under control.
