Fabric Reviews

I have alot going on in my sewing room right now. I’m having a sewing ultra marathon tomorrow. Send me some good vibes.

In the next couple of weeks I’m going to be reviewing various fabric manufacturers and their new lines.

I’ve been drooling over here. Please October hurry up to get here so I can purchase some of these fabrics. Can’t wait to share with you the fabrics that I’ve been looking at.

News Thread 9.15

Okay we are half way through the month of September.  So far I have avoided purchasing any fabric.  15 MORE DAYS!!!!  I can do this.

The Holidays are really coming up quickly.  Today has been more of a maintenance day.  I took my machine apart and really worked to get the lint out, replace needles, and clean my area.  BTW…be warned if you Google images of LINT.  This was the best representation of what was inside my machine.

There will be a sewing marathon on Saturday.  I wanted to be as ready as possible.  Here is a list of what I will be working on:

  • Moda Fruitcake potholders
  • Getting quilting designs on two quilts I have ready to go
  • Complete the top to a baby/signature quilt

The next two weekends are really busy and my first show is October 16th.

Fabric Fasting

This will be the hardest month I have ever had.  I have started my fabric fast for the month of September.  We are 10 days into it and the amount of sales and promotions I have seen so far is making me sad.  I will stick to my guns.

See this picture of my fabric stash that is out???  Yeah, I need to get through some of that before I add anymore.  Good thing I have a craft show in October to help me get energized to create more projects.

This is what I have unpacked, sorted, and have for projects.

Rules for the month of September Fast:

  • I can only purchase notions that I absolutely need:  needles, thread, spray, etc.
  • No fabric can be purchased for future use.
  • If and only if I get into a project that requires more fabric, that is the only fabric I can purchase.

Oh man, I really hope I can hold out and make it through the entire month.  Hawthorne Threads and Fat Quarter Shop are very tempting with their constant updates on Facebook.

Speaking of Facebook, I have a group on there…Quiltytherapy.  Just getting it started, join me group, who knows what I might post on there.

Black vs. White

In our last guild meeting we were discussing the use of white or black fabric in order to make other colors pop.

Black tends to be the color that I turn to and rarely think about using white.  There are a few projects in the works that are using white…you will see those at a later date.

What do you tend to go with black or white?  Why?
