It's beginning to look like Christmas

Not really, but it has been chilly for the month of May in Indianapolis.  I have loaded my completed Moda Caroler quilted potholders to my Etsy page this evening.

No time to sew, had to spend time at my parents.  Instead I did take a few minutes to update.

Look for updates on Friday, work does not start until 3pm for me.  The plan now is to spend a couple of hours sewing.

Here is a preview of what I uploaded on Etsy tonight.  Have a quilty Thursday.

Found Time to SEW!!!

Last night was the first time in two months I have found time to sew.  It was AWESOME.  Can you tell I’m excited?

I worked on more potholders for my Etsy shop.  Hopefully I can get those up today on the site.  The offer still stands for anyone that reads the blog and makes a purchase from my Etsy shop…Free Shipping.

After helping my old neighbor’s daughter with making a Moda Birdie inspired tote bag, I had some left over squares.  Not enough to make a big project on their own, but I did score some more Birdie fabric this weekend at a guild meeting.  I am turning it into a circle applique quilt.  Might as well use what I have.  I had the circles pre-cut from making fabric flowers and just used the left over charm squares to help make the border.  This is only my second applique quilt.  Better get some practice since my girlfriend’s baby quilt is the same design.  EEK!!

Off to be productive at work and hopefully will find at least a 1/2 hour this evening to sew.

Blogging from phone

My husband, still weird to say, both purchased new phones last weekend. Today I had time to play with all of the cool features. While I have access to our home computer this evening, I wanted to try a post from my phone.

So far pretty good. I have been inspired today because the hubby wants me to sew more. Yes, you read that correctly, more sewing. Oh man I really need to play up that card.

Below is also why I have been unable to this evening. My assistant, Chickory, needed some attention. We spent most of the day in Bloomington, home of Indiana University. This is where we met and I really started quilting. I wanted something creative to do when I wasn’t studying.

News Thread 5.12

It’s May 12th, May is almost over.

This week work is once again taking over my time and not giving me too much free time to sew.  Last night I got home at 9:30 and might be the same away again today.  I should get to take a half day on Friday, so let’s hope I can sew on my afternoon off.

Projects going on:

  • Friends wedding quilt from November:  Moved a few inches yesterday while I was looking for my circle templates.
  • Her baby quilt due by August:  Got the cirlces cut out of green and brown fabrics.

Scraps!!
  • Other baby quilt:  WHERE did I place the fabric??  The baby is already a month old.

I did take some time yesterday at work to make circles and cut them out.  I felt productive.  Luckily, I make calls most of the day so I can use my hands while I’m talking and “customers” don’t come in our office.  They would probably laugh at me if they did.  My coworkers embrace my sewing and creating so that works well for me.

Off to get today going and head to the office.

What Makes You Better Than Me…VENT?

Okay readers I’m fired up.  Not fired up to sew and create, instead to VENT.

I added a quilt guild meeting this afternoon for the first time.  I usually attend the general meeting, but I had the afternoon so I thought I would try something new.  Prior to getting there I was very excited to hear the speaker and the topic…Art Quilts.

Wow, something away from traditional piecing, not having rules, and just getting to create.  This is right up my alley.

The speaker made me feel almost stupid.  I have never had a speaker make me upset.  His personality was dry and condesending.  He did have some amazing pieces to share with the group.  Just the way he spoke made it seem as if we were too simple to understand his complex designs.  He mentioned that one of his pieces would take like four hours to explain.  REALLY??  He also kept mentioning how he has been in counseling for a few years.  I see why sir, you are stuck on yourself.

Maybe it was just me, I didn’t stick around to see how anyone else felt.  I was beyond annoyed and had forgotten to pick up my girlfriend’s birthday present.

Thanks for letting me vent.  I just don’t get why he made me feel so upset.  Nothing a little sewing time can’t fix.

UPDATE:  Thanks everyone for your comments and reading.  It was one of highest read posts.
