May Fabric Budget Update

Another successful month with the strict fabric budget.  I only spent $12.73 on a couple of scrap fabric bundles for a block swap.  This month has been chaotic and not much as much time for sewing.  There are a few projects in the works, but they are all STASH.

Low volume prints seem to be lacking from my stash consistently.  These scrap bundles are a good way for me to keep them on hand without too much commitment or cost.  I have to admit I’m becoming a low volume fan for backgrounds, but doubt it will replace black and white.

Other happenings in May.  It was the 100th running of the Indy 500.  Raceday is a big deal and has been since my childhood.  It was a spectacular celebration and race.  P attended his first carb day and concert.  JOURNEY!  His grandma is so proud.

He was not in attendance for the actual race.  A three year old in a crowd of 350,000 people sounded like my nightmare. He did enjoy watching the pit stop challenge and all the festivities.  The kid is obsessed with racecars.

At home we have been trying new cooking techniques.  My morning sewing time has been spent making bread instead.  Delicious artisan bread in our dutch oven.  It’s pretty easy, but just takes some time and gets a little sticky.

Only two quilts were finished this month, more are in the works.  I took my solid scraps with me on my work trip and started on an epic string quilt.  100 squares is what I have cut and there could be enough solid scraps to make that happen.

Finally, my peony bush bloomed.  It was gorgeous and smelled delightful.  Always reminds me of my grandma and the large garden beds she had full of peonies as a kid.  I’m give or take on the ants that surround the blooms.

Not sure what June is going to bring for sewing and quilting time.  We have many family activities planned and aim to be outdoors as much as possible.
