February Fabric Budget

This month there were some splurges and clever ways arranged to help me stay on my fabric budget.  Let’s break down my purchases, swaps and sells for the month.

Rachael and I hit a couple of sales at local quilt shops early in the month.  The ladies at the quilt shop think I am crazy to give myself a self imposed $100 fabric budget.  I am elated that I was able to go into two stores, both having good sales, and walk out only spending $3.99.

Not sure what the deer fabrics will be used for, but too cute to pass up.  The purple/blue fabric is for an upcoming baby quilt.

Do you ever look at #thegreatfabricdestash or #greatfabricdestash on Instagram?  While scrolling through I saw some V&Co scraps and yardage that I couldn’t pass up.  Guys, this was only $20 shipped.  I passed by the post at first but then thought about my quilt list and knew it was a good purchase.

Over the weekend I attended the Indy Modern Quilt Guild’s winter retreat.  Prior to the retreat I had a fat eighth of Kona White left in my stash.  Finishing the Scrappy Ohio Stars used up just about everything I had.  Since I just spent a quarter of my budget this month, I needed to trade to get some white added back in.  After a few emails, I was set to trade some Kona solids for Kona white.

Last minute I thought to just bring all the bolts in case that person changed their mind.  So glad I did.  Unexpectedly I sold $66 worth of solids at the retreat.  Perfection.  My fabric budget is now up to $142.01 for the rest of the year.

I’m energized to see if I could sell off some more fabric soon.
