Fall Baby Shower

This weekend I had the opportunity to co-host a fall themed baby shower for my good friend Emma.  Melissa, the co-host, and I have been planning over the last couple of months.  We wanted something personal but not cheesy.  Fall was our overall theme.  Let’s not forget Lucy, she was the greeter of the shower.

Thursday night we really got into the details of the shower and creating all the personal touches.  We made this delicious caramel.  This was my first time and I was so nervous to burn it.

My mantra for the night was, “I will not be a Pinterest fail.”  Trust me I was close with the apples, but hot glue saved the day.  Try the recipe of the cream cheese and caramel dip below, you will thank me.

With an early afternoon shower we kept the food light and opted for more snacks.  Cheese and crackers along with the homemade party mix.

Yes those are leaves.

Emma and I co-founded Growler Girls, LLP a couple of years ago.  How can I not make my former business partner a lovely baby quilt?  We made the decision to close down Growler Girls earlier this year with both of us having small families.  As I’ve been prepping some of our last products I found some fabric she had picked out.  She adores this fox print.

I wanted a simple design to really showcase the fox fabric on the back.  While researching ideas I came across this paper pieced fox pattern.  Great way to integrate the fox into a quilt top.  Another option I found was this plush fox pattern.  With my scraps I decided to go with the plush pattern and fuse it onto the quilt top and appliqued with a zig zag stitch.

How cute is this simple quilt?

It was a great mid afternoon shower complete with light snacks and delicious apple cider.  It was nice to spend time with all the ladies in attendance.
