Bright Birch Scrap Quilt Finished

Welcome if you are coming over from Crazy Mom Quilts.  If you’ve ever thought about making this pattern, I highly recommend it.  When out in the wild, you know the real world, it gets so many compliments.  Plus, it’s great for all those scraps you are hoarding.

Happy Friday readers.  Do you have any special plans for this weekend?  So far my plans include a trip to Lowe’s to look at paint samples.  Exciting right?

I am so excited to share this quilt with everyone now that it is finished.  Bright Birch Scrap has been a fun, easy to put together project.  Seriously consider buying the pattern from Crazymomquilts.  It’s a great gift idea and easy enough for a new quilter.

To wrap up the eight blocks I needed to finish I made a bit of a modification.  I did just two strips instead of three.  Helped to break up the quilt a bit.  Plus I didn’t have to sew a lot more.

Since the strips the vertical I knew I wanted the quilting to be horizontal.  Using natural thread color I did wonky lines across the quilt.

I would work one section at a time which helped the issues I had when basting the quilt.  The back got all wonky and I was afraid it wouldn’t be smooth.  Katie commented that usually with quilting those things work out, and of course it did.

For backing I pulled yardage that has been sitting in stash and pieced it together.

Didn’t realize my the quilt was upside down until after I had taken the photos.  I blame the cold on Monday.  It was frigid and I was photographing 4 finishes to share.  After each quilt I ran inside to warm up for a bit.

Hubby gives the quilt his seal of approval, he used it all week while he was sick.  Pretty sure this quilt is sticking around the house and not going to the lake.  It’s big enough for both of us to lay under.
