I have been quilting for over 10 years and it is my passion. I love to create designs and original works. Fabric is my obsession. I love having a room in my home dedicated to my creative outlet. Inspiration comes from a variety of things around me. I cannot paint or draw, give me fabric and I can create something.
Making items that brings others joy is also important to me. Not only is it my “therapy”, but I may provide others something that allows them to have an outlet: Snuggle, Sizzle, Snooze…all with a Stitch. The name comes because my old roomie came home one day to find me basting a quilt in work my clothes. She asked, “What are you doing?” My response, “I’m just sewing out my stress.”
I like thinking differently about the way something can be made. Learning new techniques or patterns keeps me going.
Also important to me is the environment. I try to upcycle vintage sheets and scraps when possible. To take it a step further my home is ran on 100% renewable resources and my packaging is eco friendly. I try to feature other artists who focus on upcycle/recycled products.
My wonderful husband supports my creative side and usually helps me make decisions. He is learning quite a bit. Now, if I can just teach him to sew.
We have two dogs that complete our house. Actually, that should be run our house. Boss is a lab/pit mix and Chick is a plott hound. Marley and Me the movie has nothing on this dog, I could write the sequel. They are usually referred to as my assistants.
I try to do something crafty daily. What have you done to be crafty today?
